From December 7 to 9, the 2023 World Chinese Language Conference was held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. Ding Xuexiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the Conference and delivered a keynote speech. Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng presided over the plenary session. Chen Jie, Vice Minister of Education, attended the main forum and made a speech. Mr. Li Wei, Vice President of DHU, was invited to attend the plenary session of the Conference.
During the Conference, Li Wei had in-depth exchanges with the heads of a plethora of universities at home and abroad, and introduced the highlights of our university’s work in advantageous discipline construction and international cooperation, as well as the progress of international Chinese language education, and expressed her desire to deepen the cooperation with high-level universities to take further the university’s goal of building a world’s first-class university with distinctive features. Also attended the concurrent China Education Expo were representatives from the International Cultural Exchange School, who have formed initial intent with representatives from several countries to foster cooperation between schools after abundant exchange with them.
Under the theme of “Chinese Language Serves the World, Openness Leads to a Better Future”, the Conference was hosted by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and co-organized by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, Chinese International Education Foundation, and International Society for Chinese Language Teaching. About 2,000 attendees, including heads of government and education authorities in more than 160 countries, international organizations and international language and cultural organizations, university presidents, renowned experts in Chinese language education, sinologists, envoys in China, and representatives of Chinese language education institutions (enterprises), attended the Conference.
