The 2023 World Design Cities Congress (WDCC 2023) was held from September 26 to October 2 in Huangpu Riverside. DHU, as one of the main organizers of the conference, actively leveraged its strong background in design and participated in all stages of preparation for the congress, providing important support.

The Secretary of the Party Committee of DHU, Liu Chenggong, the President and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Yu Jianyong, Vice Presidents Li Wei and Zhao Zhen attended the event. Li Wei presided over the Tech Fashion Summit Forum. As one of the main forums of WDCC 2023, jointly organized by Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information and DHU, “Fashion Design: Tech Fashion Summit Forum” was held in the main venue on the afternoon of September 27.

On the afternoon of September 27, Fashion Show: FASHION FROM THE ORIENT Fashion Design was unveiled at the main venue of the World Design Cities Congress.

This fashion show is combined with on-site digital media technology, and features over 60 original works presented by 14 emerging designers from DHU.

At the same time, the award-winning works of the First Chinese University Original Fashion Hanfu Design competition were showcased at Design Carnival of the congress by Shanghai Hanfu Copyright Center established by Shanghai Copyright Bureau in DHU.
DHU is an important partner and organizer of the World Design Cities Congress. The university currently has a doctoral program for “Design Studies” as a first-class discipline, is one of the first pilot universities for “Master of Arts” in China, and has taken the lead in constructing a complete system for cultivating high-level fashion design talents with distinctive features at bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. Over the past decade, the university has trained more than 7,000 design professionals and nearly 2,500 postgraduates in related disciplines. In the future, the university will continue to strengthen its design disciplines and contribute “DHU strength” and “DHU wisdom” to Shanghai’s development as a city of design and fashion.
