On September 14, Vice President Li Wei met with Ulugbek Abdullaye, Vice President of Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry of Uzbekistan, and his delegation at Songjiang Campus. The delegation of Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry included Surayyokhon Mamadjanova, Director of International Programs Department, and Shakhrukh Madjidov, Associate Professor of Changshu Institute of Technology and alumnus of DHU.
Li warmly welcomed the delegation and introduced the basic information of DHU. She pointed out that DHU has a comprehensive disciplinary system covering the entire textile discipline and industry chain and is a multidisciplinary university with textile, materials, and design as its strengths. She also expressed the hope that the two universities can expand the forms of cooperation and continue to promote their common development based on the existing cooperation foundation.
Ulugbek Abdullaye expressed gratitude for the warm reception and appreciation for the achievements of DHU in discipline construction and other aspects. He also mentioned that Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry is also renowned for textiles. He hoped that the two universities can further explore mutually beneficial domains of partnership, expand fields of cooperation, and deepen collaboration and exchanges on international platforms such as the World Textile University Alliance.
During the meeting, participants discussed and exchanged ideas on faculty and student visits, scientific research cooperation, and curriculum development between the two universities. Afterwards, the delegation visited DHU’s first-class textile discipline exhibition hall and the display room of the State Key Laboratory for Modification of Chemical Fibers and Polymer Materials (SKLFPM).
Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry is one of the earliest educational institutions in Uzbekistan. It signed a cooperation memorandum of understanding with DHU in March 2017 and has since engaged in various collaborations in faculty and student exchanges and academic exchanges. In November 2018, DHU attended the Tashkent Fashion Week in Uzbekistan at the invitation of the Chinese Embassy in Uzbekistan and Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry, and hosted a series of “China Day” activities. In December of the same year, Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry joined World Textile University Alliance initiated by DHU and became one of the first member universities of the alliance.
