On the morning of July 11, Vice President Li Wei met with a delegation from Chiba University, Japan, led by its Director and Vice President Mr. Makoto Watanabe, at the Yan'an Road Campus. The heads and relevant staff of the International Cooperation Office, College of Fashion and Design, College of Textiles and College of Mechanical Engineering were also present at the meeting.
Vice President Li Wei, on behalf of DHU, warmly welcomed Mr. Watanabe and his delegation on their return visit within less than a month. She said that the two universities have a solid foundation for cooperation and hoped to further enhance the exchange and interaction between faculty and students and deepen their exchange and cooperation based on the “design +” focus and the schools’ advantageous disciplines. Mr. Watanabe shared the development history of the design discipline at Chiba University and highlighted the Design Research Institute. He expressed the hope for the two universities to continue to collaborate effectively in areas such as collaborative research projects between professors, academic exchanges between master's and doctoral students, joint degree programs in design, and short-term and medium-term exchange programs.
Since the establishment of the university-level partnership between the two universities in 2018, approximately 50 students from DHU have participated in the short-term and medium-term exchange programs at Chiba University. During the meeting, the parties reached a number of agreements on further deepening industry-academia-research cooperation, expanding student exchanges in various professional fields, and jointly promoting the sustainable development of the design discipline of both universities.
