On June 8, 2023, the inauguration ceremony of the "Made in Shanghai" initiative took place in Changning District, Shanghai. Yu Jianyong, President of DHU and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, attended the ceremony and jointly initiated the establishment of the “Shanghai Fashion Consumer Goods Industry Eco-Innovation Lab” with Wu Jincheng, Director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization; and Zhang Wei, Secretary of Commission of Changning District.

The “Shanghai Fashion Consumer Goods Industry Eco-Innovation Lab” is jointly initiated by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, Changning District People’s Government, Donghua University, and Tmall Group. This collaboration signifies the formation of an innovative ecosystem in the Shanghai fashion consumer goods industry, where enterprises, platforms, talents, and financial elements are closely integrated. As one of the leading organizations, DHU will leverage its academic resources and expertise to serve as a think tank and provide comprehensive support for the development of Shanghai's consumer fashion industry.

Under the theme of “Vibrancy of Manufacturing,” the opening ceremony unveiled the D2WShanghai Design Program - “2023 Shanghai Fashion Consumption Excellence Export Project.” The event also featured the release of the publication “Vibrancy of Manufacturing: 2023 Shanghai Fashion Consumption Trends.” Furthermore, it marked the initiation of the collaborative establishment of the “Shanghai Fashion Consumer Goods Industry Eco-Innovation Lab” and the introduction of AI-powered new products.
