On April 24 and 25, the International Students Office of Donghua University organized the international students of the Songjiang campus and the Yan’an campus to embark on the "Journey across China".
The students paid a visit to Canature Water Group, an active player in sewage treatment and environmental protection. The students toured the sites of modern sewage treatment process and robot application in water treatment, and the ecological purification wetland, and learned how technology can make the company's ecological concept a reality. Through the visit, the students gained a better understanding of environmental protection work, especially sewage treatment, which aroused their enthusiasm for following, supporting and participating in environmental protection. Furthermore, with a deeper comprehension of the philosophy of ecological civilization, they also realized that the secret of China's modernization achievements lies in the harmonious coexistence between man and nature.

The students also came to Wufang Village in Fengxian District, a sample of the beautiful countryside in the Yangtze River Delta, and Dongzhuang Village, which is known for its profound red cultural heritage. Through explanations and visits, they’ve learned that before 2017, Chaos of electric wires and dirty foul river water were the everyday scene of Wufang Village. The land here was hardened and barren, and agricultural development was considerably confined. With the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, the development of Wufang Village has ushered in a turning point, and it was ranked one of the first rural revitalization demonstration villages in Shanghai. Dongzhuang Village, "the most well-known village of red culture in regions south of the Yangtze River", has not only retained the former site of the first rural branch of the Communist Party of China developed by the revolutionary predecessor Chen Yun, but also developed the first rural e-commerce platform, while striving to create "ten thousand mu of fertile land, ten thousand mu of bamboo shoots, ten thousand mu of mushrooms", etc.

Books and travels nurture souls. International students have experienced China's green mountains and clear rivers and the great changes in the mountain villages in person, and deeply realized that in the beautiful landscape of the era, China’s development is the result of a Chinese-style modernization based on its own national conditions.
