The Fifth Board Meeting of Confucius Institute at Moi University Held Successfully

Confucius Institute at Moi University (CIMU), which was jointly established by Donghua University and Moi University, held its 5th board meeting in a hybrid mode on September 8th, 2022. Nine directors on the board attended the meeting, including Prof. Jianyong YU, President of Donghua University, Prof. Isaac Kosgey, Vice Chancellor of Moi University, Prof. Fengling QING, Vice president of Donghua University, Prof. Mingwei ZHAO, the moderator, Director of International Cooperation Office, Chinese and local directors of recent terms and Prof. Thomas Kipkurgat, Managing Director of Rivatex E.A. Ltd., Moi University.

 

The meeting began with addresses by the Presidents expressing commitments to the development of CIMU and wishes to strengthen cooperation between the two universities. Prof. Jianyong YU highlighted the importance of CIMU in promotion of Chinese language, inter-school collaboration, and cultural exchanges between China and Kenya, expecting CIMU to contribute more to the better future shared by China and Africa.

 

The Board reviewed and approved the personnel change regarding both Chinese and local directors, CIMU Annual Reports and Final Account Reports, updates on the CIMU financial regulations and renovation project of buildings allocated to CIMU on Main Campus. Other issues, the program of Chinese BA and SAISTA 2022, were also brought into discussion.

 

Despite the pandemic, staff of CIMU has continued its efforts in language teaching, cultural activities, and the featured functions in textile and fashion design. With the support from Moi University, DHU, Chinese Embassy in Kenya and Chinese International Education Foundation, CIMU will embark on a new, promising and vigorous path.
