1.State Key Laboratory for Modification of Chemical Fibers and Polymer Materials (SKLFPM)

SKLFPM was established in 1992, got its qualification to open service in 1996, and passed the national assessment in 2003 and 2008. At present it is an important national key laboratory of textile field. Its history is back to the first “Chemical Fiber” specialty in China, which created by Professor Baojun Qian and Professor Borong Fang in 1954.

SKLFPM is operated under the guiding principles of “opening, mobility, cooperation and competition”. It organizes its research works to meet the requirements of national economic construction, national strategy, and trends of polymer and fiber science and industry. So far the laboratory has made considerable contribution to the progress of fiber industry and national defense.

Professor Qifeng Zhou and Professor Jian Xu are the chairman of the Academic Committee and director of the Laboratory respectively. There are 50 regular researchers now in the laboratory, including 4 academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering, 34 professors, 14 associate professors and 2 research assistants.

SKLFPM focuses its academic research on three fields:   (1) High performance fibers and composite materials. (2) Structure design and functionalization of low-dimension materials.(3)Formation theory and technology of environment-friendly fiber materials.

SKLFPM has undertaken and accomplished more than 400 projects, including National Basic Research Program (973 program: 4), Hi-Tech Research & Development Program (863 program: 9). It has won 4 second prizes of National Science and Technology Awards, 5 First prizes of ministry-level or municipality-level awards and12 Second and Third prizes of ministry-level or municipality-level awards. It has published more than 1440 academic papers, and applied 396 patents with 129 authorized.
