Summer Chinese Courses

 

I. Program Features

  • Enjoy your study at West Yan’An Road Campus, Donghua University, which is located in the center of Shanghai, enjoying decent public transportation and well-equipped facilities.

  • We are the only language program in China accredited by Eaquals, which guarantees consistency and quality in our teaching methods.

  • Our classrooms are small, guaranteeing that teachers will have enough time to give each student the best-possible learning experience.

  • Courses are designed to improve students’ communication skills. Students will be able to do a lot of oral practice, using topical classroom discussions and other practical language events.

  • We integrate Chinese learning with forms of cultural expeditions and activities. These activities aim to deepen students’ understanding of Mandarin Chinese.

  • All Learning materials, as well as the assignments, will be uploaded to the learning management platform. Students both in online and offline courses can review the course at any time, including the additional online course materials like keywords, language points, recorded videos, dialogue videos, audios, course summary, and etc.  

     

II. In-Person Study

  • Course Schedule for 2022 Summer semester: July 18th 2022- August 19th 2022

  • Application deadline for 2022 Summer semester: May 25th 2022 (overseas); July 1st 2022 (mainland China)

  • Class time: 9:00 AM - 11:45 AM Beijing Time, Monday to Friday;

  • Levels: Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced with a maximum of 10 levels. Students have to take a placement test to evaluate their Chinese proficiency, and they will be divided into different levels based on the test result (At least 8 students per class).

      

III. Fees

  • Application fee: CNY 200

  • Tuition: CNY 5,000 (In-person)

  • Preferential policy

    • If you are a currently-enrolled or a past student at Donghua University, the application fee will be waived;

    • New applicants recommended by international students studied in Donghua before can enjoy application fee waivers.

  • Payment methods: Cash, UnionPay, Online Payment (Wechat, Alipay, Visa/MasterCard)

IV. Application

  • Age Eligibility: 16-60 years old

  • Application procedure

    1. Apply online via https://admissions.dhu.edu.cn/ with your personal information and the chosen language program;

    2. Upload the required document; ensure that you enclose all the scanned documents clear and visible and file size should below 100KB.

      • Scanned passport information page

      • One bareheaded electronic ID photo

      • Valid Chinese visa (offline study applicants only)

    3. University will email you and review your application once we receive your admission fee. We may ask you to submit additional information, if necessary.

    4. Wait for your admission result. Whilst we aim to give you a decision via email within 10 working days, in some instances due to the volume of applications received, it may cause some delay.

       

V. Others

  • Textbooks: Self-compiled textbooks Chinese in Real Life with online supplementary learning materials.

  • Visa:

    • University will offer student visa and Residence Permit (Study) application documents case by case. You can contact the International Student Admissions Office for details.

  • Accommodation

    • Students can apply for campus accommodation based on the capacity. If the reservation is confirmed, please check in during the designated time as required.

  • Refund

    • Application feeNon-refundable;

    • Tuition: Full refund: study terminated before instruction starts.

      NO refund will be accepted when the instruction starts.

  • Class arrangement

    • Students have to take a placement test to evaluate their Chinese proficiency, and they will be divided into different levels based on the test result.

    • In the 1st week, students are allowed to change the course level within a specific timeframe.

  • Epidemic prevention and control

    • In-person study students will be allowed to enter the campus only if they follow epidemic control policies and regulations of the Shanghai Municipal Government and Donghua University.

    • In the middle of the semester, the school may have to adjust In-person courses to online for epidemic prevention and control purposes according to the development of the domestic epidemic situation in China. It is to ensure the safety and health of teachers and students.  Students are requested to actively cooperate in such adjustment the paid tuition will not be refunded.
