Online Chinese Program



I. Program Features

    • Scholarship Opportunity: students who satisfy the International Chinese Teacher Scholarship selection criteria will receive the Scholorship, which covers the full tuition fees.

    • Study anywhere around the world: Online courses give you the chance to learn authentic Chinese if you are unable to travel to China. You can interact with teachers live, and review the course independently based on personal arrangements after class. You will also be able to contact with students from all over the world in online cooperation and Chinese language practice.

    • Focus on language applications: We adopt the self-compiled textbook ‘Chinese in Real Life’, which is highly suitable for international students’ life in China. We also consider the daily practical use of Chinese language in our course design.

    • Integration of language learning and cultural understanding: We offer an introduction to Chinese culture as well as cultural lectures and practical activities to deepen students’ understanding in Mandarin Chinese.

    • Rich online learning materials: We offer various Chinese learning materials, including key words, language points, recorded videos, dialogue videos, audios, course summary, and more. All Learning materials, as well as assignments, will be uploaded to the learning management platform; and students both in online and offline courses can review the courses at any time.   

    • Assistant support: We assign Chinese teachers or DHU Chinese students to each class as assistants to provide additional support for international students.

    • Quality accreditation: We follow EAQUALS Accreditation standars in teaching and management, which guarantees consistency and quality in teaching.

    • Course completion certificate: An electronic Donghua University course completion certificate will be issued for students who fulfill the attendance requirement and successfully complete the program.



II. Course Arrangement

  • Course Schedule for 2022 Spring semester (Online): March 7th 2022- July 8th 2022 (18 weeks)

  • Application deadline for 2022 Spring semester (Online): November 15th 2021

  • Class time: 6:00 PM-9:00 PM; every Monday to Thursday

  • Course levels: Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. After registration, students are asked to take an online written test at a designated time and will be assigned to a class based on the test result and the HSK report (At least 8 students per class).

  • Class arrangement: Your instructor will arrange the final schedule of live broadcast courses, recorded learning and consultation, and activities according to the real class situation.


IV. Fee

Students who satisfy the International Chinese Teacher Scholarship selection criteria will receive the Scholorship, which covers the full tuition fees.


V. Application

  • Application procedure:

    • Apply online via https://admissions.dhu.edu.cn/ with the personal information and choose ‘Part-time: Online Chinese Language Program’;

    • Upload the required document; ensure to enclose all the scanned documents clear and visible and the file size should below 100KB.

      2. One bareheaded electronic ID photo

    • Submit the Chinese Proficiency Test HSK test report or the registered test information if it is available. Applicants with HSK scores or registration information will be given priority to provide scholarships.

    • Wait for the admission result. Students who satisfy the International Chinese Teacher Scholarship selection criteria will receive the Scholorship, which covers the full tuition fees.


VI. Others

  • Textbooks: Self-compiled textbooks "Chinese in Real Life" with online supplementary learning materials.

  • Visa: Documents for student visa and Residence Permit (Study) application will NOT be provided.

  • Accommodation: The University will NOT offer accommodation services or documents.

  • Class Distribution:

    • Students have to take a placement test to evaluate their Chinese proficiency, and they will be divided into different levels based on the test result.

    • In the 1st week, students are allowed to change the course level within a specific timeframe.

  • Facility Requirement:

    • One computer with properly functioning audio, camera and headphone

    • Smooth internet connections

    • A calm, quiet environment, suitable for learning
