Qiu Gao, male, of Han nationality, born in 1963, is a professor, PhD Supervisor, Member of CPC Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Donghua University.
Education Background: Qiu graduated in Polymer Materials Science and Engineering from Tongji University in July 1981. He received his Master of Solid State Physics from Department of Foundation of China Textile University (CTU) in December 1988 and then taught at CTU. In March 1997, he was conferred a PhD from School of Materials Science and Fibers Engineering of Donghua University.
Work Experience: Qiu was appointed Professor of Physics by Donghua University in 2000. He also successively served as Director of Department of Physics Director and Deputy Dean of Physics College. He was promoted to be Director of Academic Affairs in October 2001. He was later appointed Director of Development and Planning Department, Director for Discipline Construction Office, Head of 211 Project Office and Chairperson of Higher Education Institute in November 2007.
Professional Affiliations: Member of National Higher Education Pedagogy Research Committee, Vice Secretary General of Shanghai University Association of Higher Education.
Academic Achievement: Qiu presided over and successfully completed more than 10 research projects including National Natural Science Fund, Key Teachers Fund by the Ministry of Education, Shanghai Aurora Project, Project by Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, National Key Research Project of Petrochemistry. His contributions and achievements also were also in the fields of atmospheric pressure plasma engineering, graded index polymer optical fiber, polymer solid phase polymerization. He has published over 50 academic articles in domestic and international journals and obtained 4 invention patents. He was awarded the second prizes of National Teaching Achievement of Higher Education and Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award.
International exchange: Qiu has been to Bepex.Co., Air Force Research Laboratory, University of Akron and University of California in the United States for academic research.
Honors and Awards: Qiu was awarded “Excellent Party Member of Shanghai Education System” and “Shanghai Baosteel Excellent Teacher Award” in 1999.
